February 9, 2018 Professional Will

At times we will have to do things that we do not want to do but are required for our success.  It is at this time our resolve or professional will is tested.  When learning of Lever 5 leadership most think of the humility required.  But Jim Collins points out, “It is equally about ferocious resolve, an almost stoic determination to do whatever needs to be done to make the company great.”
In any area of life we have to earn our freedom of choice by making the right choices.  If we do not take care of our stewardship we will lose our right to keep making choices and be forced at times to do things that might feel like a punishment.  It is important at these times that we focus on the opportunity we have to advance and learn.  If we allow ourselves to have a fixed mindset our progress will be stifled.
The wonderful part of life is it does not matter what you did yesterday.  Failure is an event not a person.  Yesterday really did end last night and today is a brand new day.  Life is a marathon, not a sprint so get yourself moving at a good pace and understand you will have some hills to climb.  The fly wheel will gain momentum as you consistently persist with diligence.
